reverse lights don't work
On my 1979 Ford f150 custom the reverse lights no longer work. I checked the bulbs and they are fine. Checked the fuses and they are fine too. Wire running to rear taillights seem to be ok too. Not sure where else to look. Has anyone else had this problem? What else can I check?

backup lights
Scratching my head, trying to remember, (got C R S) but I believe there is a reverse light switch on the transmission, or possibly on the steering colume. Try looking at the trans first!

The problem is the combination back-up light/neutral safety switch.
Remove the switch from the side of the transmission & unplug the connector on the firewall. Submerge the switch part in some Lacquer Thinner & shake, turn the inner collar of the switch ...repeat until the switch seems clean...Then clean again with electrical cleaner moving the switch inner colllar as you spray fluid inside. Now you can re-attach the connector & tes the switch before mounting it back on the tranny. If it now works get a drill bit that will fit in the hole & and install on transmission as per specs. http://www.clubfte.com/users/mil1ion...tartSwitch.JPG |
