Need Help With A 6
Hey Guys ,
Im Having Little To No Leads On A Problem . I Have A 1953 Ford Fordor(i Know It Is Not A Truck , But I Have Turned Evry Where Else With No Avail) And It Is My First Time Getting Into Vintage Cars . I Am A Little Confused About The Engine . How Do I Tell If It Is A Flathead 6 Or An Ohv 6 . It Does Not Look Like Any Other Flathead I Have Seen , It Has A Very Tall Vale Cover . Any Help Would Be Great . Thanks . Bryan |
A Flathead has no valve cover
Just a Flat surface with six sparkplugs sticking streght up and a whole bunch of bolt heads visible. |

I believe you have a 215 cid I block six in that car, they came out in 1952. That engine
was supplied later as the 223 cid. They ran good, needed an occasonal vale adjustment and sometimes had blowby. The carburator was a Holley single barrel with a glass float chamber. |
Thanks
