ACE brand rust stop enamel?
 

has anyone heard of and used this paint? it comes from Stines and is in the house paint section. now I know what your thinking. this guy is trying to get out of using real car paint because it's exspensive. well, yep your right.
at this time i'm more concernd with the mechanicals of the truck. and not a show quality paint job. so i need some help. this paint i found says that it can be used on wood or metal. the primer that goes with it says that it can be applied directley to metal. when i asked the clerk where the hardener was, she said that it wasn't needed for that paint.

so, what are your opinions on using this type of paint? could this paint last a couple of years(meaning not falling off when i wash it?) until i'm ready to do a real paint job?

the color scheme i was thinking of would be satin or flat black on the outside, bright gloss red on the interior and engine bay.

any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated. thanks.

Be careful about this, is the hood already painted? Because if you just lay this paint right over a pre-existing paint job when that hood heats up, you will get all sorts of peeling and cracking. I don't think it will be worth the money in the long run, do what I did, get some rattle cans of rustolem and just cover the spots that need it, yeah so your truck or car looks redneck and crappy, but when you stomp on the gas and hte 3" pipe roars in their ears as you take off like a bat out of hell who cares? This way you can save up for the real thing later on.

you know, i completley forgot about the hood getting hot. i think i'll just spray on some primer and save my pennies for decent paint later. thanks for the reminder.

I had trouble with ACE brand primer over the weekend. it comes off with surface prep.

usually I use the duplicolor primer for a touch up and no problems.
