Weight of 1966 Ranchero
 

Does anyone know of a site with specs for the 66 Ranchero? Ca. DMV won't let me register without an unladen weight.

Jim, You can take it to a bulk delivery feed store, I got my truck with trailer and truck on trailer combo weighed at one.

I found out that my 4,000 lb truck tag was over weight by 6,520 pounds.

The ranchero has been setting for many years and I have to trailer it. I was hoping to get something in writing from a ford publication etc. to give the DMV. If not, I guess I can have the combo weighed and then get the trailer weighed separately. Thanks again, Jim

Just in case any else is looking for weight specifications for Ford's, I found a site which has a large data base. Whether the DMV will take it's information or not is still a question. The site is at http://carnut.com/ and click on Car Specs.

I had the same problem last year when I moved my Ranchero from Colorado to California. They wouldn't even take the weight off of my Colorado registration. After they told me I had to have it weighed I found out that the Ranchero's stated weight on my old title was a few hundred pounds above the weight break for the lowest comercial plate rate. Since they wouldn't take the stated weight I made sure to take everything out of the car, ran it to just above an empty tank, removed the bumpers, the tail gate, the bolt in panel in the bed, and the hood. When I took it to the truck scales to get a certified weight (they did provide a list of accepted cert scale locations) I cleared the maximum weight for the lowest price commercial plate by about 30 lbs. I look at it as a way to recoup the $20 it cost to have the thing weighed. As a bonus I'll save DMV fees as long as I own the ranchero.
If you are local to the Sacramento area I could find my scale certification and give you a copy to take in...
