Restoring a racing Falcon Ranchero '64.

Hello all, I wonder if I could get some tips on how to proceed with the repairs on a '64 falcon ranchero. It is a 2.89 v8. Automatic c6? It has electronic ignition, and has been modified, acording to a friend it was probably used for racing, now I think it needs a new transmission. Any ugestions on mechanics arround the east bay area or san francisco?

update.

This ranchero has power steering, electronic ignition and a modified engine, It have been sitting there for 5 years, but the body is great looks almost new. I will have some pics as soon as I am done washing it. I don't know anything about mechanics but I love the idea of seeing this baby run. If anyone have any usefull information I would appreciate it.
thanks

Looks like a great project. Your tranny should be a c-4, not a c-6. C-6 was normally behind a big block.

Yes I now believe is a c4

I don't know much about mechanics, but I do agree that it is agood project.
