Did you get the Explorer Fixed??
|
Hey Jeff, it's not leaking from any of the spots you'd think, it seems to be coming from behind the timing belt cover, I haven't had time to really get into it yet but I think and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the engine have to come out to get in there?

If that thing is leaking from behind the timing belt cover then you more than likely have a blown front main seal.
BTW - What motor is in that explorer? Bubba |
The Haynes manual does not say you need to pull the engine, but you have to take most of the stuff off the front of it.I would also removed the radeator.I would go ahead and put a new timeimg chain on while you have it apart.HAVE FUN!!LOL
Bubba its a 4,0 HVO |
Thanks guys, I was afraid that was it, there is also a slow oil drip coming from the same vicinity, this is gonna be no fun at all :'( oh well guess after 250k miles and really no problems other than the tranny and radiator I can't complain too much, if you guys need to get out of the house come on over.... :-X24
Bubba it's got the 4.0 6 cyl. with the towing package (even more stuff to take off the front). John |
Hey John, just checkin' in- hope all is well.
|
Hey Matt! All is well I haven't had a chance to tear the xploder apart due to work and weather so I just keep an eye on it.
John |
have you had the chance to tear it apart yet?
|
Nah, Mr. Murphy has been hanging around lately and I'm waiting for him to go visit someone else before I get into it.
