converting an f150 into a lightning
 

i have a 99 f150 5.4 and i am buying the whole top of a brand new lightning truck engine to supercharge my engine. i will have every part of the upper intake and supercharger including the engine loom. my question is, do i have to change the fuel pump and what do i need to get the intercooler to work?

Sorry man... but you still cannot refer to it as a "Lightning"... cause it's not unless you're gonna do all the suspension mods etc... I highly doubt that you will "need" to change the fuel pump, but it might be a good idea.

i have a 2002 lightning truck also, i have the old suspension and rims to put on my 99! do you know what else i would have to do as far as the intercooler is concerned?

uh... well, prolly your best bet is gonna be to post in the Lightning forum, they can help you much more than I can, however I believe that the intercooler should be fairly easy... just mount it and plumb it. I think this will prolly be the least of your problems though, I think the tough part will be the s/c itself. Also, the brakes are different on the Lightning too, they are actually 3/4 ton brakes. That's a project, but good luck.

J/C Why are you tearing through a 02 Lightning to make a 99?

Why not go with a 5.4 supercharger instead of a "lightning" supercharger. Probably cheaper and the kit will have all the parts you need to install.

Dont get the OEM supercharger, get your own internals and build an engine, then put a Kenne Bell supercharger on it, at 14 pounds of boost or so. Then go out and try to hold traction.

Probably better off buying aftermarket. The stock supercharger has a habit of overheating after a few 1/4 mile runs and performance is affected greatly.
