Needed-8 groove/ 124" serpentine!!
 

Added an alternator.........now I need this 8 groove/ 124"-124.1"? serpentine belt to fit.

Installed a 123.3.......had to max out the tensioner and still pry the belt on.....way too tight......

Any brand is fine.........all help is appreciated.

Already tried my locals/ even googled the net...........nada so far??

You might need a 125 if its that tight. Hard part of experimenting is the expense of all the ones that dont fit.

According to my 'reliable' sources :) ......the tensioner travels about 1 to 1 1/2 inches on the belt length........I have the tensioner totally extended with a 123.3", So I'm adding about half that much and still should have about the right tension with a 124"......

BTW.....find an 8 groove close to 125" and I'll consider adding a larger pulley to the alternator!......(If needed.......???)

Take a load of money and go to a "friendly" auto parts and explain your problem.Buy two or three belts in the general range you need & get them to agree to refund for the ones you don't use.Keep them clean and in the right sleeves.
I had this problem on a "Murcury" marine engine.Murcury wanted $96.00 for the beilt.I called around & found a place that had a good selection & picked one up that fit BETTER then the original,$24.00. Good luck!

We know what is needed......8 groove/ 124 inch serpentine......we just can't locate one. No one seems to make them in this size.

This is exactly the problem I had.I KNEW what size I needed.I brought some different sizes home and as I was trying them on,one of them slipped on and fit better then the original.It turned out to be two inches different then what I THOUGHT would work.
Try different brands too.

Was this an alternator kit you purchased? Wouldnt a company that sells add on alternators sell the drive belts to run them? You could try an RV supplier or builder,Ambulance builder, or big truck company and find out thier sources or they may have what you need there.

No kit, this is a home brew setup.......there is one kit for this engine (4.6L) for limos......and that's big bucks. It's installed below the radiator, facing the engine.........This setup uses an 'extra' belt off a double pulley on the crank......And uses powerline alternators. They will run in either direction.
Leece Nevilles may be used also.

Ive replaced quite a few powerlines in the large busses. Very expensive buggers along with their special regulators. Well good luck with your search.
