Egr Valve

I was wondering about blocking off the EGR valve on a EFI 302 SD engine. If it would affect the idle or anything else in the engine. And if what all would I have to do to make it work without an EGR valve?

Why do you want to do that? It won't affect idle if the valve is operating properly, nor will it affect wide open throttle. Why do you want to block it off?

I know in chevies you can get in the computer and turn it off, might be possible with fords too, i don't know, just a possibility. By the way, i know this is the wrong site, but i need general info. on my chevy i turned down the EGR to 10 percent in the computer, would i get better gas milage with higher EGR or Lower EGR setting? It goes from 0 to 60 percent.

Don't do it unless you want your engine to ping. The EGR reduces combustion temperatures.

The Egr has been blocked off. I havent had any problems. I was just wondering if it could cause any idling problems. I have been told it could.

If the valve is stuck open, it can cause idle problems. Otherwise, no.
