Is the 4.0 SOHC a zero clearance engine
 

I am having problems with my explorer with the 4.0 SOHC engine. I think the timing chain or the tensioner is broke. The fuel mileage has dropped some over the past few months. Then the other day when my wife was driving the engine died and lost all power steering and power brakes, of course. She had to fight to control the vehicle, thankfully her and the baby were okay. Had vehicle towed and getting ready to work on but someone said something about this engine may be a zero clearance engine that would bend the valves and damage other parts inside.

Is this a zero clearance engine or what?

PS. I am currently going round with Ford :-X02 over whether or not they will cover this under the 01m01 program that they have issued.

01m01 program , would you tell just a little bit about this campaign program, I am very curious. More said the better, in my book!

This is like a silent recall that Ford said they mail notice out 1 time and thats it, unlike a safety recall that they keep sending you notices. The 01m01 program was dealing with Ford saying that there is a problem with the cam chain guide assembly. There are other programs dealing with the cam chain tensioner wearing and breaking. Ford said these are not safety recalls. When my wife was driving the other day and it messed up and she was trying not to wreck with her and the eight month old baby in the back, I consider this SAFETY, no matter what Ford calls it. Check the recalls/tsb on this site and also go to Ford's website and put in your vin number and check for recalls.
