there musta been something wrong for him to do that badly
maybe the dodge driver is just stupid

Texan1983 01-30-2004 07:49 PM

somethings not right, either that lightning is hopped up or that dodge had something wrong with it.

Uhh, yeah....its a Dodge. Thats the fatal flaw! In all actuallity, the Dodge driver probably missed his first shift. He also seemed to have a pretty poor launch. Gotta love the play by play of the guy running the camera though.

Looked like the Dodge had problems. He should have done better than that. That looked like he was in the wrong class.:(

I wish the camera would of picked up the times, then we would known fro sure if the lighting was stock or not. Oh wait I've got an idea let me find a stop watch and I'll do my best at timing it. We couldnt even hear that dodge so either it was a fake srt-10 or the guy really chicken footed it.

Edit:
With my simple analog stop watch that I had I was able to get around 12-13 secs. I dont have 10th's on it so I cant tell you exactly but it was around high 12's low 13's. A stock lighting with an excelent driver if I recall is running 13.8ish or somewere in the high 13's. So if my calculations were anywere right its just alittle faster then stock(maybe a sec, sec and a tenth), an aftermarket exhaust, a shift improvement kit, drag slicks, traction bars, and maybe a smaller pully. Anyone agree? The stock SRT-10's are running something like 13.2 maybe 13.4 I think, I know there wasnt a big difference in them considering the extra gearing and the extra power of the dodge. IMHO opinion there was almost if not more then a full sec between the two trucks, that would put the dodge about as fast as a stock lighting. The driver def. needs to work on driving skills. With the above mentioned mods the lighting was probally putting out about 450 horse or so. Imagine another 50 horse, from ford?

what a lame name srt-10 lmao haha dodges suck

wlihntr 01-31-2004 12:34 AM

something was up - i have done better than that against a lightling in my truck.

BuiltToughF250 01-31-2004 12:53 AM

well, keep in mind the SRT10s have the viper V10 in them ( i think ) so... he might have spent more time spinning his tires at the line than the lightning did... losing his take off time and its a heavier motor. anyways... stock dodges are infamous for being slow trucks to i dont even have to watch the video to get an idea of what happened.

Moved to proper forum.

I have a 2002 true blue lightning the best i got bone stock strait off the show room floor w/ only 900 mi on it i ran 13.103 @ 104.64 mph
1.982 60ft 8.412 1/8et 84.43 1/8 mph 65-70deg w/high hum
that w/ no mods whatsoever on stock tires if you have any questions email me at (Click Here to find out why email addresses are removed from posts.)

according to the lightning vs. srt tech sheet i got from the dealer last night the lightning runs 13.8 in the quarter and the ram runs 13.6. thats a pretty slow number for 500hp. you would have to do very little mods to a lightning to beat it. exhaust and an air intake is all you would have to do.

Peach 06-24-2004 08:27 PM

yeah..theres somethin wrong with that..the Dodge wouldnt be that far behind

MustangGT221 06-25-2004 01:33 PM

Something is definitely up w/ the dodge. The lightning didnt seem like it had much for mods but the dodge took off hard and then slowed down...maybe he missed his 1-2 upshift? Regardless, he lost big time. The dodge seems like it's pretty tricky to drive (inconsistant track times, bad).

Saurian 06-25-2004 02:23 PM

It's the power of hte engine that makes it so tricky. That's why I'm worried the next generation Lightning will be the same way. If you add that much more power to it, it won't be as easy a truck to drive. Lightnings today you just mash that throttle and you're in the high 13's. The Ram's, despite their extra power, just can't do that because they have to get their throttle and shifts JUST right to be able to do better. If I had a Lightning I wouldn't be afraid of a SRT-10 running around on the streets cause odds are they'd get too excited and spin.

As also mentioned, simply Intake and Exhaust work would bring the Lightning up to the SRT-10. Add in Pulley's, shift kit, and some port work and you're really going to be rocking.

I really hope Ford still makes the new Lightning a hook-friendly truck still.
