I was coming home from a funeral today about 2 hours from here, and about 30 minutes on the way home, we passed by this junkyard, and I happened to notice several 73-79 and 80-86 trucks around and about. I saw one that a tree had fell on too.

The junkyard is about 5 miles west of Farmville, NC on US 264 Alternate. If I were you I'd hurry because there was a porta-crusher sitting behind the shop there.

I have a son in Greenville and we use 264 with the 70 mph speed limit to travel from Durham on. You have to get off the big roads to make the finds like you did. Where do you live?

I live in Butner just about 20 minutes from Durham. I had a distant cousin that died in Maury, about 10 miles east of Farmville on US 258. But US 264 Alternate runs through Farmville. That area is about an hour and a half or 2 hours from here.

If you want to find this junkyard, its off US 264 Alternate, so at Wilson, where US 264 splits into Alternate (55mph) and "big" 264 (70mph), take the Alternate East (55mph) and follow it for a good 20 or 30 miles (past Wilson about 15 or 20 miles), and its on both sides of the road, and the trucks I saw were right beside the road with a lot of trash in their beds. Or if you're coming from Greenville, stay on the 264 Alternate West and just after you get out of Farmville, the 264 Alternate West will bear left (an intersection), follow it, and its about a mile or 2 from that intersection. You'll know thats the one. Theres a early 80's truck at the gate on the left with no wheels but good body, and 3 or 4 73-79 and 80-86 trucks on the right behind the brick house, most in pretty good shape. Like I said, better hurry, when I passed through there was a forklift at work and the porta-crusher was in the back.

I'm a senior at South Granville High School in Creedmoor. I go to Durham about once every 2 weeks. Sure, I'd like to take you up on your offer. Every truck we save is one less that is reincarnated as a Nissan.

We could meet at Honeys on Guess Rd. or Shoneys at Hillandale. I used to have a shop at Guess rd & 85 before the road project got it last year.

Oh you had that Exxon/repair shop there? My daddy and I used to get our propane tanks filled there up until a few years ago, when the local stores around here got their own propane systems.

John, I see the tears from here. wipe your tears away, you will have another shop when the good lord is ready for you to have it.

Oh ok you were over there near the Wabash train station restaurant.....I used to love to eat there when I was little.

That's right, the driveway was beside Suggs Plumbing. Too bad the owner didn't keep the property up and had to tear it down.

Man, I should have dropped you a line, I ate at Tripps at Northgate last night. Oh well, I'll try to remember next time.

I passed by that junkyard again today, on the way back from another funeral in Snow Hill. The 78-79 trucks I saw last time, were gone, but the 80-86 trucks were still there. Something else was still there too, the porta-crusher. If you need parts for a late 70's early 80's truck, I'd highly suggest you move quickly to that yard and get what you can before it's too late. It's the same place as I shared before above.
