Oil Filters on Sale at AutoZone - 2 for $5
All STP oil filters are on sale at AutoZone. 2 for $5. No coupon, no rebate. These are normally $9.99 each. Limit 2.
7.3's need the S3786. Most AZ's only carry 1 or 2 of these, and one jerk-wad manager would not sell me 1 for $2.50. They did get on the computer and found a store nearby that had 8 in stock. Took the wife with me and bought 4. On the way to that AZ, passed another AZ (they have one about every few blocks around here) that had 2 in stock, so I bought those too. Drove about 15 miles, less than 1 hour, bought 6. I'd go back for more, but the AZ is near the Mall. :-rip STP filters are made by Champion Labs and are consider to be of good quality. BTW. AZ also has 10w-40 "Valuline" oil for $0.79/qt., but it is only SF-rated. OK for your older cars, but not good for anything newer than about mid-80s. NOT good for PSDs. |
Not here is SouthEastern Ma.

bigger barn
I just came back from Sears in my local mall. Yup, it was uncomfortable, but If I can do it .........
2.99 for the psd filters 7/24. i'm amazed! If I had not been on this forum I would still be paying 11.99 for filters. They are purolator btw. No need for a bigger barn. Bsides I need the bigger barn to store firewood anyway. |
O.K. guys. I'm a pig headed old fart that believes that you get what you pay for. I think brand names are shuffled to sell cheaper merchandise. Can you guys that are scarfing up these cheap filters direct me to any reputable site that isn't biased in there evaluation on the off brand filters for the PSD . I don't mind paying top price for top quality, but don't want to get ripped off by buying name.. This seems to be a new topic but I've seen opinions but no stats... The poster was right about an Auto Zone being almost on every corner in AZ. ..

You have to separate cheap filters from a cheap price.
The STP filters are normally $9.99. AZ just screwed up and put "all" STP filters on sale 2 for $5. Same with the Purolators at Sears. Sears prices all of its Purolator filters at $2.99. Once again, stupid Sears. These same Purolator filters are $11.99 at Pep Boys. We are just taking advantage of a "one price fits all" strategy by Sears and AZ. The filters happen to be a good deal because 7.3 PSD's take the biggest filter in the store. $2.99 or even $2.50 is a good, but not a particularly great price for my gasser filters. Some times you get what you pay for. Some times, you get more. Coke is normally $1.99/2 liter around me. Sometimes, it's on sale for $0.79. Does that make the $0.79 Coke "cheap" and not worth buying? Are you getting something more at $1.99 then you get at $0.79? If you want the best, Mobil 1 or Purolator Pure One seem to be of better quality. But "Premium" gas is better quality than "Regular". Doesn't mean that it is worth the extra $$$. |
I'm gonna keep paying 12 bucks for Wix/NAPA Gold.
