Snow Plow Time!!!

Anybody got any suggestions about which plow I should put on my truck after I get her running again?

I've been leaning towards the Western LSX with a 7' blade.

What other plows can I put on the F-150 with out to much sag in the front end?

6.5 foot meyers is what I have on my 1988 F-150 XLT Lariet 300 5 speed 4wd it hadles it very nice. a little more advice always plow in 4LO range

I'm going with the Blizzard 760 LD 7' 6" straight edge.
I'm also going to 3/4 ton springs in the rear with a larger gas tank quantity for weight. replace my front stock coil springs & ad timbrens.

That is as soon as I get my truck back. Can't beat the $3000.00 price tag installed. Western told me $4500.00 for their equivilent.

Not too bad.

Snow...bout time. Say...I know a fella in Shoreview up by Lex and 96....has a Fisher behind his garage (and it's been there for 2-3 years.)

No longer has a big Ford so it sits. It's not mine so no real details....you can drop me a line if you want to see if you can get it off him....may be cheap, considering.

I already have a deposit on the Blizzard. Thanks for the thought though. I don't think I would want to buy a used plow. Not really knowing the condition of it & not knowing what to look for.

Buying a new plow yes is a little more expensive, but doing it this way will allow me to find & repair the weak points & then I will learn what to look for.

Really I'm doing it just for the learning experience & perhaps next Winter I can make a couple bucks during the Construction off season.:-X06 :-X06

I'm interested in any plow I can get(cheap). I can fix it or make it work if needed.

Well I better see what I can get for details and so on. He works at a bakery so he's not home yet....I'll try Wednesday.

New to forum so I cannot email you direct....

By the way...if you get a good price...ya owe me lunch. Or a great price on a good (or rebuildable) Carter YFA.

Sounds good to me :-X06 :-X06 :-X06

I believe you need 20-25 posts to be able to use the email system here.

Ol Rudy 02-04-2004 09:22 AM

Correct...25 posts and 30 days (snow will be gone by then).

I'm going to go have coffee at the local hardware store (it's free there...) and see if Ed will take the info and pass it along. Then I can just post the name of the hardware store and all will procede.

Hope that doesn't go against forum rules...I like this site and don't want to be kicked off.

Well how are things in Osceola? Pretty town...used to ride MC over there when I was younger.

Stopped at C&E Hardware Hank and spoke to Cheri and Ed ....gave em my email address. If you are over that way ever (again...coffee is free), stop in. Right by the Edina Realty bldg off 96 at Churchill. MapQuest will give you the info you need.

With any luck, Ed will have his "perfect" 1978 Ford Van back from the body shop so you can look that over too. A deer "kissed" it...but it is getting fixed.

I did talk to Warren the baker...he's on 10-12 hours a day now so if home he's trying to rest. He said the plow used to be on a 1987 Ford, was the type that had the engine mount pump (has pump), and was a 7 foot Fisher...looks good as I recall...paint isn't shiny anymore but new paint is cheap. There are several sellers of new Fisher decals on Ebay I noticed.

I think he will want somewhere in the neighborhood of $800 for everything...see what you can do with that.

Oh...and get it to warm just a bit...I need new manifold gaskets on my 300 and I will be doing the work outside.
