Hey skigalini,
I just traded my F250 with 315 tires. They were put on the the dealership owner. He drove it for 3500 miles before I bought it. Anyhow, I asked about the speedometer being correct and was told it was for those tires. I checked it againt radar a couple times and running sise by side with my friends Chevy. It appeared to be dead on. Must be a way to adjust for tires that big.

skigalini...

That must be one fine-looking truck. I think there is a gadget called "Truespeed?" that can correct for any tire size. Seems like a saw something about it on this site.

Someone chime in?

tristankc 11-24-2003 09:44 AM

The stock speedo is actually 2.5 mph off and a set of 285's actually corrects that without changing anything to the computer. If you have the dealership change the computer to 285's, it might be the same 2.5 mph off and be perfect, or pretty close for the 315's.

Hmmmm. Mr. Tristankc. Very interesting. I think I will go over to the dealership one day soon and have them calibrate for 285's. It's worth a try.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any others also welcome. Also, thanks to tbluv10 for the 'truespeed' suggestion. I will keep my eyes and ears open for more info regarding this.

Cheers,

Skigalini

va_redneck,

I checked out your pictures. Are you using the front end loader as a jack while you put the lift in?

va_redneck 11-30-2003 07:21 AM

Yep I used my kubota backhoe. I have a class II hitch onthe front. I attached chaines to the front hooks for safty and used logs because it wat too high for all my jackstands.

the 6.0 is heacy and I missed my old case 530 BH. it was all that the kubota could lift.

you know us country boys alwasy inprovising..... or was that left over from my days in the Corp?

if youu want details I am puting them up on my web page http://www.geocities.com/vyant_redneck

pics are up and text coming with new pics of the truck with tires and the pillar pod gauges.

va_redneck 12-01-2003 11:48 AM

Ser,

is your truck a single or dually?

I bet a centennial dually would look awesome!

post a pic for us.

It is a SRW

Sorry aobut that I will change my sig so it gives more information. I bet a dually would look awsome in this package. But I am very happy with mine and I really haven't seen a lot of the problems that everyone says they are having with the 6.0. Don't know if I'm lucky or just not as observant. I sure do like it though.

I will try to post some pics soon.:D

i work at the factory in louisville ky. the truck was as far i know to be a limited build of maybe 3,000 units and to be 2003 models to celebrate the 100th anniversary of ford motor co. but as we all know know if a dealer can't get it or can get something close he might stretch the truth . as far as i know the units were to come with a emblem on the dash and the number of the build . i will try to find out more but i know that there are not very many at all cause i thought of getting me one !!! i have/ had a 99 f-250 powerstroke 7.3 with 180,000 miles on it until thanksgiving morning when i ran off the road and flipped it on its roof !!!the bed was off the ground it took 50 miutes to cut me out and statflight me to university of louisville hospital where i walked out 5 hours later --- we build the best trucks in the world!!!built ford tough and we mean it -- quialty is on our mind on every job we build there !! sorry i'll get off my soapbox ..but it saved my life -the truck has many uses -- happy trails ,cowboy

I am glad to hear you are ok cowboy.

The only way you will get me out of my ford is with a saw ;)

I have heard horror stories about the trucks but I have never had a bad experience with any of my trucks. They all came out of Louisville.

Feel free to jump up on your soap box any time. You have the right to be proud of the wormanship. I have purchased 3 fords trucks this year. and one mustang for my ex wife. Well you can understand why she is an ex. LOL

I hope if you have to replace your truck you can get into new PSD. Your 6.0 kicks A$$.Oo. :-X06
