OK, i am despirately in search for a wiring diagram for my 97 f-150 4.2L v-6's door dome light switches. is there a problem with these staying on after the door closes? could it be the Gem Module? could i just replace the switch? i would really like to test it so if anyone could come accoss a wiring diagram i would really appreciate it!!!

This is a very common problem. A can of WD-40 and 60 seconds will solve your problem.
The switch that turns the light on when the door opens is inside the door latch. Open your door and DROWN the latch in WD-40. Open and close the door a few times and repeat. This will clean the gunk off the switch and allow it to function. BTW, the FAQ at the top of the page lists many other common problems. |
thanks, I tried that before but i didnt use that much wd40. I will try it again now that it is both doors doing it. Thanks for everything

I am also in need of wiring diagram for same type of '97 F-150, if someone does, in x-change for "TOY" wiring or info.

well i believe i fixed the problem, Here the wiring harness for my turn signal switch was loose and i figure it was arching and sending a funny signal to the gem module, That fixed the spontaneous windshield washings and the every so often intermitent wipings. It also fixed my "flash to pass" which didnt work before. what i think fixed my door switch problem was pb blaster. wd 40 didnt work the first time but i think pb blaster did the trick this time Thanks
