Thanks Joe; I want to clean up the firewall and remove the vacuum lines, no need for low range.:-drink

Be careful in cleaning up those vacuum lines that you don't remove the vacuum lines for the brake booster.
|
Thanks Joe; Nice '50

why do that ??? just leave it in high
|
Thanks big job, don't need low and want to clean up firewall.

You should be able to take the diaphragm off of the axle and make a piece to replace it that will lock it in high range. Do not try to rely on the vacuum to hold it in high, It must be mechanically locked to stay in.

Thanks Mark, would the diaphragm be engaged or disengaged for high range?
|
With the diaphragm on the axle and with no vacuum to it, it locks the axle in low. The diaphragm pulls the shift arm on the axle to high when vacuum is applied.

You da man! thanks much
