52 Ford f-6
Hi. I have a 52 F-6 with a 337 industrial flathead Ford, mid engine with a Chev turbo 350 and a dana 60 locker. I do drag race this vehicle. Last time Fontana Ca. July 2014, at the Antique Nationals. The issue I am experiencing is no front brakes. Chev hubs and no drums etc. What can I do to stop the front wheels without putting on a juice brake front end. I can't go around the water box , so I have some issues getting a good launch. ? Trans brake? Thanks Marty

burnout
Thanks for your response. My issue is not stopping, but how to clean my tires after using the water box prior to staging. I do not have front brakes and cannot due a proper burnout and subsequently have a slow launch. I was thinking trans brake. Thanks Marty

I'm sure we'd all like to see some pics of your truck! I am curious why you are using a heavy F-6 for drag racing? Is it cut down to F1 size? What kind of times are you getting?
A trans brake won't help, it will not affect the front wheels. I can't think of anything that will work except for front brakes. If you've adapted Chev hubs to the spindles, shouldn't be that hard to adapt some GM disc brakes (Not a bad idea in any case). |
337 flathead: 1948/51 F7/F8 & 1949/51 Lincoln/Cosmopolitan.
