1984 460 fuel problems
 
I have a 1984 Ford Class C motorhome 460 it has been in storage for about 3 years ran when put away but will not start now will start if I pour gas in carb but dies right away i think there is no power to the fuel pumps when i install a jumper wire on the oil preesure sending unit the fuel pump relay clicks under the hood on the drivers side does this indicate that all is ok or is the fuel pump relay or the oile pressure sending unit bad? any help would be appreciated

Do you have the starter solenoid with two small terminals? One will be marked 'I' and one marked 'S'. If so, try pulling the wire off the 'I' terminal and touch it to the side of the solenoid hooked to the positive side of the battery. You should hear one of the fuel pumps run. If not the pump could be gummed up, the wiring has a break, or possibly a ground problem. You said the RV will fire if gas is poured in carb so that eliminates the ignition. Try filling the carb bowls through the small vent tubes on top, they are about the size of a drinking straw and protrude above the venturi a bit. Then see if the RV will stay running, this will give the pump(s) a chance to start filling the carb.

This is assuming you have an electric pump(s) and the Hot Fuel Handling option.

This also assumes you have gas in the tank(s).
