Odometer Issues - please help.

I have an 04 F150 Heritage. For the last couple of months the odometer has been acting funny. Sometimes the LEDs will light up and display the mileage but most of the time it will not. When it does I can tell that it is still adding up the miles so that part is working . The problem seems to be in the LED readout.

One mechanic told me that I would have to take out my entire display and send it off for repair. The repairs could cause my odometer to go back to 0. This doesn't seem right to me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

....If you can solder..you can fix it..There is a thread here on the board about how to perform the fix. It is a cold solder joint on the display. I took mine apart and fixed mine about 5 yrs ago...Works perfectly now!

Sometimes on, Sometimes off or even yet, i get a screwy flashing all sorts of digits .

If i smack the dash it will calm down. Been that way for almost 2 years.

It records the mileage ok, It is just the display. I saved the link on the repair also for when i ever decide to tackle this.. Everytime i go to do it, Somthing else pops up and i put this project on hold again.

If you use a good magnifier, you will probably find that most of that line of solder joints shown in the instructions need to be redone. Mine had 5 with cracks so just did all of them, takes but a few seconds with the soldering iron.

Mine is doing the same thing. Got to fix it one day. Thanks for the link.

great job finding the thread for fixing this. I'll sure remember this if mine ever goes crazy.
