RHD Steering Box
After all I have done on the front end of this truck the steering is still not 100% and I know it's not going to get there but it should be at least 95% .
I am still waiting for the stabilizer to turn up and give that a try but I'm not holding my breath on the results. Question : where do we go to get any information on and about RHD Steering boxes, has anyone replaced a RHD steering box yet or had one rebuilt. Thanks for any info. |
Yep. NKelly is da man you want to talk to. Rocket Industries in Melbourne have a kit.
|
Thanks , is it a do it your self job ? have you used this kit before or done a job like this for someone, have you changed a RHD box yourself?
|
Not me. Bryan has the rocket kit on he's truck. Did it himself and I believe he is happy with it. You eliminate the dummy box and run straight from the RHD one. They supply a converted drag link and a mount that goes over your front diff that supports then panhard bar. Thats the bit i dont like.

Blue, quick turn around on the box, interested to see how your truck drives after the rebuild. I think it is a path I'd also like to follow.
Brian, fishin's not too good this time of year. Hibernation prob'ly. |
Yeah i payed air freight to get it over there and back quickly, the workmanship look good from http://www.nationalpowersteering.com.au/ .
I went out in the workshop and fitted the box last night , only takes 1/2 an hour, now have to find a good video on the flush procedure. |
Ford Super Duty Power Steering Flush | Superdutypsd.com
easy to do. even the flush on its own makes a difference. |
Up-date , Have steering box fitted now and fine it great should have done this a long time ago .
I'd say with the new box it's 98% and the other 2% is there from new, i fitted the box and flushed it put full synthetic trans fluid back in as i had left over from the transmission flush . The flush was an easy job , but best with two people (can be done with one) just remember not to get air in the pump . |
Good work Blue. That was also quick turn-around from National Steering. How much was the steering box rebuild cost?
|
Yeah they do a good job and quick turn around , you can get exchange steering box as well , i just wanted my steering box reconditioned but that your choice .
Good service and a quality job but you have to remember you can' get things as cheap as the US steering boxes 3-4 hundred dollars exchange. |
