Part Name and Availability Help Needed
 

The truck is a 1980 F 350. It may have a Dana 60 or 70 rear end ? It is the full float axle. Anyways the part needed is the arm that operates the parking brake inside the drum. The PO has deleted it and it is necessary to get the parking brake to work due to it being a standard tranny. I am not sure what all is needed inside the drum to make it work again. So any and all help will be appreciated.

The parking brake lever is what is missing. Does anybody know if it is available or have a part number?

Apparently that parking brake lever is universal. The same part is used on all kinds of applications even Mustangs. James needs one to fix his truck. Do you have one laying around out there Gary?

As for the park brake lever, I do have them for an F150 9". But there are several different prefixes depending on the size of the brakes, and the differing prefix means they are different parts. If you'll measure his brakes I can look things up to see what he should have.

For instance, I think the 150's have 11 x 2 1/4" brakes and take a D7AZ 2A637/8.
But the 12 x 2 1/2" and the 12 x 3" take an E6TZ 2A637/8 for right/left.

E6 is well after Bruno's 1980 model year truck, and likely for a Sterling, rather than a Dana rear end.

The basic part numbers are the same, but the actual part numbers are not.

Basic part numbers only shown in illustrations. The text section of the parts catalog is required to get the complete part number by adding the prefix & suffix.

But it's not the same part, there are dozens of different parking brake levers.

Only the basic part numbers are the same.

1967/79: F250 with 12" x 2 1/2" rear brakes & F350 with 12" x 3" rear brakes / 1980/89: F250 with 12" x 2 1/2" & 12" x 3" rear brakes & F350 with 12" x 3" rear brakes:

E6TZ-2A637-A (replaced C7TZ-2A637-A - C8TZ-2A637-A - D6TZ-2A637-A - E5TZ-2A637-A) .. Right Parking Brake Lever.

E6TZ-2A638-A (replaced C7TZ-2A638-A - C8TZ-2A638-A - D6TZ-2A638-A - E5TZ-2A638-A) .. Left Parking Brake Lever.

FoMoCo is infamous for replacing/updating 10's of 1000's of part numbers EVERY :-X09 YEAR! It was a PITA back then and it's an PITA now!

Replaced part numbers taken from the 1991 edition of the Ford O-S-I (Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange) Catalog...on microfiche.

And which ones would fit his 1980 F350?
Does it depend on drum width, or do 12" brakes on a Dana all take the same.

1967/86 F350's have 12" x 3" rear brakes, as do some 1987/89's. Beginning in 1987, some F350's have 12 1/8" x 3 1/2" rear brakes.

Bruno - What Bill was saying is that you don't get all of the part # from the illustration, that I posted. You have to go to the text section and get the prefix, and all Ford parking brake levers are 2A637/8 across decades of cars and trucks. But the prefix gives the specific application.

I'm well aware of that but I posted the illustration so you would be able to pick out the part and give me the generic #. Then I go to the text section and find the prefix - as I did above - and post that for you to find on-line.

Speaking of on-line, you don't need Bill to find parts. Just Google the #'s and you'll find hits. Then check with those people for availability. I usually get a response from the various dealerships on Rear Counter within 24 hours.
