I've never seen a rubber clutch hose, nor a clear one.
I thought all of them were hard black plastic but I've been wrong before.

dylansf23 08-10-2014 12:02 PM

I'll take a pic. It's like a clear/red hose. My friends f150 is the same

dylansf23 08-10-2014 10:16 PM

everything will be sandblasted and repainted by me in either undercoating(black) or my favorite non-ford color, CAT yellow. all engine parts will be black or ford blue, or chrome. but other outside parts may be CAT colored.

dylansf23 08-10-2014 10:26 PM

air conditioner and power steering are removed. saginaw and a new steering gear will be taking the place of the old leaky and squeaky ones.

http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/...pss7w9vzcy.jpg

i have alot of new parts that i will either be selling to a friend or returning to autozone. such as, completely new ignition system from dizzy to ignition coil, new starter(going with pmgr for my headers) rebuilt carb last year, and a few other nick nacks
also, a four core tradiator will be going in instead of my tiny one core.
so you think i will need the fan clutch or should i just put the fan on directly?

Gary Lewis 08-10-2014 10:55 PM

Go with a fan clutch as it'll help reduce noise and increase the MPG.

But, you are making good time and will be bolting it all back up soon.

dylansf23 08-10-2014 10:59 PM

here is the dyno sheet from the other day.

yeah first day we worked from about 3 to 230am then today from about 2 to 5 pulling the motor.

i plan on shopping around some tomorrow(monday) and then sandblasting it all.
motor isnt done yet:/
the engine bay will be power washed, and de-wired. im going with the all-in-one dizzy from dui so i wont need barely anything.

speaking of, the haynes manual has a decent wiring diagram, but im not so sure its as detailed as id like it to be, anybody got anything else?

steering gear replaced for 30$( 144$ -94$ core charge -20$ autozone rewards = a happy me!)
then i will start the install, or maybe ill do the rear gas tank
( i have a 38 gal tank, and skid plates from a diesel i scraped( rolled and they blew the motor))
i also have a rear brake job to do and hopefully thatll give me a good park brake .

yes i made good time and a mess, but itll be worth it in the end.

Brad from Oz 08-11-2014 06:14 AM

Looks good mate, getting heaps done :-X22

I love your friends shed, right next to the pool :-X03

What do you do in the aircraft game?

RL250 08-11-2014 06:28 AM

Looking good so far. Keep it up.

Btw: message from my dad: Semper Fi. He was avionics 79-89. I decided to go the Army route, and have been fabrication for nearly 10 years now.

Rogue_Wulff 08-11-2014 07:34 AM

Progress is good.

I've always been amused by the name on those cans of paint stripper. "Aircraft remover". I've never had any unwanted aircraft I needed removed........

ArdWrknTrk 08-11-2014 10:00 AM

Lots of progress. :)

Thanks for the picture of the translucent red clutch line.

What are your plans for the removed engine, and what are you going to use the stripper for?

Please get yourself a copy of the EVTM for your year.
It is the very best for schematics.
Shows each major circuit, every connector and splice.

dylansf23 08-11-2014 10:11 AM

How would I go about getting the evtm?

I'm an Ordnance guy.
Thank you and your dad for yalls service.

Yeah sadly it's been misting every day so we haven't used the pool yet.

The stripper, I'm gonna dump on the flight Lind on base and see just how well it works lmao

The engine, I think has a bad cylinder. Or at least blown rings. First cylinder. I was wanting to bring it down to base and tear apart and my friends dad was talking about rebuilding it but they haven't moved down yet so for right now, I have no idea lol.

I'm in the air about the trans too. I have the t18, and a zf5 2wd but I'm debating between a t19(pre 84) and a zf5.

My Speedo is in my tcase so I dint think it matters what year zf5 does it?

ArdWrknTrk 08-11-2014 10:22 AM

Look on Ebay or go directly to the Helm books website.
EVTM's are going to be the best $20 you ever spent on your truck.
I got mine used on Ebay for $17.95 delivered.

Did you do a leakdown on your engine?
This will show whether it is rings, exhaust or intake valves gone bad, before you even open the engine.

No 4x4 ZF will have the speedo drive.
They all come from the T-case for obvious reasons.

I had a T-19 before this ZF.
It is a very stout gearbox and I appreciate the synchro's, even if I very rarely used that 6.32:1 1st with my 4.10's
The OD in the ZF5 helps a lot on the highway when you have gears that low.
