'48-'50 Cab Extension

Has anyone ever extended the cab on their F sieries to create a "crew cab"? Any pictures? Suggestions? I have big plans to do this with an F8
BTW - I'm a long time follower but recent member of the forum. I love what I've been reading. I've learned so much.

Tinman did it with his Coe Looks great. Same cab size as the F8

Mines not a crew cab, just extended 12". Might give you some ideas though.....
Link to the build is in my signature below....

It has been done, including by the after market when these trucks were new. A Google image search is a good place to start: https://www.google.com/search?q=1950...=isch&imgdii=_

Here's my pictures of a period after market crew cab. With the headliner out you can see how they did the roof. I made the guy an offer for this, but got nowhere. Stu

Great pics Stu! That will help a ton. Too bad you couldn't get him to cut loose of it. Is it still sitting there?

Thanks for the link and for posting such detailed info on your work Tinman. I'll be studying it closely as I begin my project.
That's what I like most about this forum...a way to share information, benefit from others experiences & get encouragement to take on such a monumental task.

The guy bought it at auction and paid a little less than $5000 iirc (the sale record I found on-line). So with fees figure 5 grand. I offered $7000 as I recall. Wasn't interested. Phone number is on the sign. Stu

That makes for an expensive sign. It sure is a cool truck. We'd love to see a build thread on your proposed crew cab.
