Power Windows - '76 F100
 

I'm looking to install a power window setup in the '76 F100 I'm re-doing. Any ideas?
I tried a setup from LMC Truck on my '83, and am not too impressed with their quality - they don't seem to be that great. :-X15

I have bought the Autoloc version. I have not installed yet because the widow crank switches cost more than the kit itself (found a good deal). Waiting for a price drop for the switches before I buy them, but the inserts look pretty solid and are a bolt in installation for my truck (79 f150). They offer cheaper switches but I want the classic stock window crank ones.

How good at fabrication are you? I took the window regulator and motor out of a 90's ford explorer and blended that with the stock regulator. It works really good but as you can see in the pictures I had to cut a hole into the door (behind the door panel) to fit the motor). Wow do my welds look aweful in these pictures :(

The pitch on the explorer motor are the same as on the factory arm so not modification is required there.

The two oversized head phillips head screws are the factory 70's location to line it all up. The third location had to be built in and uses one of the through bolts that mount the motor to the window regulator

Buckin, I like your ingenuity and your windows work great, but I'm wondering if '80's/'90's regulators would adapt to our doors with less trouble? I always see the later year trucks with power windows and locks at the junkyard.

Thanks, guys. I'm looking at the Electric Life - FD41-K 2 DOOR FRONT KIT CONTAINS 2 COMPLETE REGULATORS WITH MOTORS ATTACHED Electric Life FD41K-2.

That's quite a fab job Buckin!! I'm thinking a Ford setup would work better, but I'm not the fabricator you are!! Possibly something from a 78 or 79 Bronco would be a close fit to what I'm doing - some research is in order!!

The price of them switch kits is crazy. Grab some switches out of a GM or blue oval donor and fab the harnesses yourself... plenty of diagrams on the web. Saves ya at least $100.

Save yourself a ton of trouble and $$$: Go to junkyard, pull out the whole assembly from an 89-95 F-150,250, or 350 and simply bolt it in without a lot of fuss. you can even use the OEM switches and wiring.

according to Dormans site, their window regulators work on 80-97 ford trucks. the search is now on, Might keep wiring and switches out of 93 econoline I am gonna scrap and get the regulators from a jy. Wasn't going to do much in the way of mods on 77 F250 SC, but this might be one. I like my power windows.

Has anyone actually tried to bolt an 80's-90's power regulator to a 79 and earlier door?

I contacted our guy at Advance Auto and am getting a Dorman manual regulator for a '76, along with a power regulator for an '80-'97 to compare. They're supposed to be here later this week - I'll post some pics and observations.

:-X22__If you get the " FD41K-2 " let us know . I ordered that one on 5-13-14 and they called me the next day and said they were out of stock. I ask when would they be back in stock and he never knew. He said the supplier , who is a middle man from the manufacture is real hard to get information from . So i canceled my order but may order again if you have better luck. __JIM__:)
