Up til now a snow plow on a 150 will void the warranty.I heard a rumor from a salesman that the 2015's will be coming with a snow prep option.Has anybody heard anything or can tell me where to go for info.Forget the dealers around here.Thanks!

Yes, I work for a BOSS snow plow dealer and we received info on the 2015 F-150's that will be available with a plow prep option. From what i've read they say you can only mount and run a plow on a truck with this package. It will only be available on 5.0 4x4 trucks with certain cab configurations. If i can dig up the info i have i'll post it.

Winter warriors will have a tough new tool in their arsenal against Mother Nature with Ford’s new snow plow prep option, available on the all-new 2015 F-150. Ford is expected to be the only manufacturer to offer a light-duty snow plow prep option across all cab configurations – Regular, SuperCab and SuperCrew.*

When snow plow mode is activated via the push of a button, the vehicle temporarily turns off nonessential features to provide dedicated power for the plow.
The option package requires the truck be equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine and four-wheel drive, and is available across XL, XLT and Lariat trim levels.
“The new 2015 F-150 is the toughest F-150 ever, and by using more high-strength steel in its frame and advanced materials in the body, we’ve made the new truck up to 700 pounds lighter,” said Eric Peterson, Ford F-150 marketing manager. “This leads to more capability and better handling, which is exactly what you’d want for plowing. Adding a snow plow prep kit to our lineup helps ensure our customers have even more tools at their disposal to get the job done.”
Upon taking delivery of a new F-150 with the snow plow prep option, owners will need to take their truck to a Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier to purchase and install the plow hardware. The maximum light-duty plow weight will be over 450 pounds.
Pricing for the snow plow prep option, excluding the plow, will be announced later this year. The all-new 2015 F-150 will arrive in dealerships at the end of 2014.

Turns off an "nonessential features"?
I wonder what that really means.

The big concern with these trucks is electrical load. I would expect the button to disable anything that draws substantial power but isn't critical... stereo, etc.

I think the plow package turns off any nonessential electronic to help compensate for the snow plow. At least that's what I read several months ago when they had first announced it. I think the only F150 that was rated for a snow plow was the 7700 7 lug from a decade ago. One problem that Ford NEEDS to address is adequet engine cooling when the snow plow is in full use and when it is fully up in front of the radiator. At my dad's work they had a 1994 F250 351W with an 8 foot Western snow plow and if the blade was up it had to be turned either left or right to allow more air to flow through the radiator other wise the truck will over heat. Not sure how radiators have changed in the past 20 years or how much the size difference is between a fuel injected 351 Windsor radiator and the current 5.0L Coyote, but its something Ford cannot afford to ignore.

I don't understand the plow button nonsense. Why not just add a battery and/or alternator to compensate for electrical load?

Batteries add weight and significant complexity (especially if you aren't just paralleling them). Bigger alternators are more expensive and cause more engine drag.

Still seems like a simpler solution than turning off nonessential stuff to me.

Not really. With everything operating off CANBUS these days, turning off the nonessential stuff is a matter of sending a few messages on the network. For instance, did you know there is no longer any switched power to the stereo system? It's powered all the time, with off and on being controlled by CANBUS.

It's pretty cool that they are offering a pre-plow prepped F-150. I know that being a plow truck completely destroys most trucks, so it's nice to see Ford responding to demand.
