I have a 98 f150 4.2. I'm planning to supercharge it with Eaton m112. I also want to swap the factory 5 speed with a tremec t56 and finish it off with a 9.75 rearend with 3.73 gear. My question is what is everyone thoughts on this.

Thoughts from here is it's a project to accomplish for self satisfaction once you realize all the system compatibility changes that should be done.
The end result compared to doing this with a 5.4 isn't comparable in terms of power.
The stock PCM program needs to be modified for blower use so you have more to do than just changing parts.
The timing curve is different, the fuel curve is different, fuel requirements are higher etc.
It involves some engineering along with the changes and that thing called money sneaks into the mix.
You do what makes you satisfied. Just be awhere of what your getting into before you start.

I've been researching for about a year. Super six motorsports has just about everything I need to do the engine upgrades. Hell they even have complete crate motors capable of making 600hp or more is power adder. I'm not looking to do for that much. I'm just trying to get over 300hp and 400tq out of the v6. Everyone tells me to swap to the 5.4 but that's not what I want to do. I want my truck to different than the other 500k trucks on the road. I plan to build a separate motor with a preprogrammed computer so all I need to is drop it in when it's finished. Because of the money issue it's going to be a slow process. When the money allows it I'll do what I can. That's why I'm not going with a complete crate motor. All of this would still be cheaper than buying a new truck and I'm not a fan of the modular v8 anyway. Even if I did do a v8 swap I wouldn't do it until I completely rebuilt that motor with better than factory parts. So in terms of difference in money there wouldn't be much between the two. The only difference would be in power output.

If your going for power and getting a new motor anyway, staying with the v-6 does not make any sense to me.
I know you said you don't like the modular v-8 and it would be a little more work, but if power is what your after, a blown v-8 is where it is at.
I do agree a blown v-6 would be unique though.

My original thought was turbos but the maintenance is more than I want to deal with. I'm not looking to make it a race truck. It weights too much for that. I am looking for the uniqueness of the blown v6 and much better torque. The horsepower would just be an added benefit. I want people to assume it's a v8.
