'15 turbo on '11 6.7 Pics and videos

Morgan from Midwest Diesel posted his install of a 2015 charger on his 2011 truck on PSA. That didn't take long!!

Am I watching that video correctly, that the traction control is still having to cut in at 95mph?

Thanks very much for sharing, were there any tuning updates that they had to make? Was it just a direct bolt in? The way that truck pulls so quickly from 2k-3k revs is impressive.

Tuning should be easy. Someone stated that this upgrade would be able to be swapped with factory tuning and emissions intact. As for a direct bolt in, it will require a few parts to complete the swap.

Jumping in here to follow.

Do you have any side-by-side pictures of the old/new turbos?
I would have thought the fuel mapping would also change between the old and new since it will take more fuel to feed those extra 40 horses..

I think his fuel was re-mapped for more than 40 extra hp when he added the H&S! There can be far more benefits to a turbo swap than simply adding peak hp.

My stock truck jumps from 2k to 4k+ way faster than that..................when it misses the 3rd gear shift!

That is impressive....following.

Blapensee 06-24-2014 10:57 AM

thanks for the vid i was thinking about doing this since i want to keep my setup like it is and don't really want to spend 8500 on a single turbo setup

Morgan posted a price for the kit. Think it was $2899 for all parts from Ford to swap. He is going to offer billet stuff for over $3k.

Bumping this thread for those that don't follow Powerstrokearmy. Here is a quote directly from the man himself who is a big part in these built 2015 turbos.

I'm hoping right now it's will be close to 500. Basing that from the 426 it previously dynoed. Which is about 50hp shy of a 300hp tuned 6.4 they usually run in the 550 range on the superflow we use.

This one is the billet turbo. We will dyno billet vs cast at some point. But I don't see it making much more than a tuned 6.4 with extra fuel before it is in it's danger zone. That will be for the larger vgt that will come later. It would be nice to make 600 with a drop in and bigger pump.

BigF350 06-25-2014 11:08 AM

Thanks for the update. I'm guessing the 426hp was just with H&S tunes.

For some reason, I'm suddenly less worried about my turbo going out }>

Very interesting...

TRENT310 06-25-2014 10:34 PM

Preventative maintenance... I gotta change out the turbo and keep the stock one as a spare just in case.
