A weak starter will cause a slow, no start hot

I read that too. To me it seems plenty strong enough it cranks at a pretty fast rate and fast enough to build the oil pressure on the gauge.

Seems like it cranks too fast and solid to be a starter. When it starts to fir seems like a old carberated car when it's just getting itself primed to start. I guess that's best how ro describe it.

When you turn the key to on but not all the way to start.
You should hear the injectors buzz and if you open the drivers door you should hear the pump run below your seat on the frame rail. Do you hear both? You will also hear the vacuum pump run around the passenger side wheel area. If the inertia switch tripped then yes sort of. There is no way for air to get back into the system like with a filter change so pressing it if tripped should get you immediate response. But you could cycle the key a few times if you think it needs to prime/purge. Check my first two things and report back. Sean https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ctureid=149188 |
Yes I hear the fuel pump and the Injectors also verified fuel up to.the upper housing. I don't think it won't start due to fuel at this time. Could the ipr just shut the truck down like that? I don't see where the livewire I have reads much of anything useful. (I think its a older model) It reads about 8 or 9 fields at least from what I can figure out. Think I am.going to buy a scan gauge 2 tomorrow if I still have enough cash kicking around without putting myself in a bind. Crappy thing is we leave for vacation Thursday and need it to pull the camper. Kinda frustrating since it always fired right of cold.

What is needed to make the adaptor to do the airtest?
|
I can't say right off the top of my head. If you look in the Tech Folder
you should be able to find it. You need the fitting and a plug for the IPR to supply it power so it will close and let you do the test. It takes time to force all the oil out of the rails so take your time and don't do a constant on with the power to the IPR. Here is a better place to do the search from. It is the advanced search. Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Search Forums Found this for you https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...t-fitting.html BLADE35 aka : Benny saves the day again! Give the man some Reps. Thanks for the link, if I can find the part today I am going to make a fitting. I am also going to go through make sure something I disturbed (ficm plugs, or different plug in harness) did not come unplugged. Odd how the truck just shut off. I am also still puzzzeled on the fuel inertia switch being tripped.

Should I buy only a motorcraft ipr?

Everything still looked intact this morning. Just bought the scangauge 2 so I will report back with readings in a bit.

ipr-14.8 Icp-0 Ficm-48.5 Koecranking ipr-84.7 Icp-13 let off key shoots to 38? Ficm-48 |
So obviously the 84.7 ipr reading=very bad. Now guess it to be a oring leaking or bad ipr? Betting a oring so I guess I have to try and buy the fitting to air test. Is this what you all concur the next step to be. Doesent look good to have this running by friday. Still seems odd it no longer starts cold when it was running great once started until she shut off Saturday.

Have you checked you good oil flow with the filter removed and the drain closed? If you have good oil flow with that low of icp during cranking I would pull the ipr valve and inspect.

How do I determine good oil flow?
