212 code, but no TFI module? Does a 7.5L have a TFI?
I guess I posted in the wrong forum, so this is kind of a re-post since I didn't get any replies.
So I had a check engine light and 2 codes. First was a 332 code, and I fixed that with a new EGR valve. The light was reset and does not come on but when I check the codes I still have a 212 code. So I figured someone had accidentally put a grey TFI module, when I needed black or vice versa. This is an E350 7.5L 1994, and when I pulled off the air cleaner box to get a look at the distributer, it has the flat part where the TFI mounts, but no TFI. so 2 questions, Were the 7.5L's made without TFI's? I feel as though the code has been there all the time, I do not have any driveability issues, and the check engine light is no longer on, so does this really need to be fixed? https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...78f4ac92e1.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...349a66e018.jpg |
Nope. All of the EFI 460s have a TFI module. I think it switched with the body style in 92, but the later trucks are mounted on the driver's side fender on a heat sink. Look right below the hood spring. Check the functionality of the PIP sensor while you're at it. I don't remember if I had the same 212 code, but I had a code pointing to the TFI module as well and it turned out to be the PIP sensor instead.
