Evening Steve!

That's a lot of rain. Of coarse there aren't many basements in the South.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 08:23 PM

No there isn't.. I miss them though.. Massive amounts of storage area..

They are, cool in the Summer when there was no A/C as a kid.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 08:31 PM

It was nice when you had a dry basement. I spent many a day and night playing in the basement when I was a kid..

Basement at the folks house was for the most part dry except after a rain but only in one room.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 08:40 PM

My farm had a multi room cellar.. I had a wood burning stove in the main room that kept the floors warm in the winter..

Our house had a monster of a furnace with huge pipes coming off of it in one room. Laundry room was the room that had wet floors when it rained. My brother and I had our crap in the third room which was dry.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 09:06 PM

Now all I have is a crawl space that is a dirt and a little damp.. I need to save and get the area sealed somehow..

Around here crawls have heavy plastic sheeting over the dirt with pea gravel to hold it in place. Open the vents in the Summer and close them in the Winter.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 09:34 PM

We do the same but I was hoping to get Alabama Foundation Systems to seal it better..

I have seen where like a basement floor was poured. Just no headroom.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 09:44 PM

They encapsulate the crawlspace with plastic and it is really clean afterwards.

That would be the way to go.:-X22

Steve GG 06-13-2014 10:00 PM

I just need to get the free estimate to see if I can save that much or get a loan..

I imagine that could be pricey.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 10:16 PM

It probably will be but I think it may be doable..

I m sure its doable, Coating the block and dirt with plastic would be clean and dry all of the time.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 10:25 PM

Thinking about putting a ventilation fan under there as well. They fit in the vent area..

That would keep the air always fresh. Be nice if its solar operated.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 10:42 PM

They aren't but no sweat..

Nothing to running a line to a vent.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 10:58 PM

No, I have a junction box under the house near the vent..

Then you're all set. I don't think you need any more than one.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 11:08 PM

I will have to check the specs of the fans to see if one will do..

How many vents do you have?

Steve GG 06-13-2014 11:19 PM

I have eleven..

You may need more fans. Crawls around here usually have one per side but you are dealing with more moisture.

Steve GG 06-13-2014 11:30 PM

That I am.. I think 2 on opposite ends will do the trick..

KOESTNER 06-13-2014 11:36 PM

I think that should do it. Keep the air moving in on the front and rear and out the sides.

KOESTNER 06-13-2014 11:38 PM
