Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Plasti Dip vs Rustoleum Flexi Dip

if im posting in the wrong area please be easy on me, im brand new to the forum. Last week I decided to remove my door panels on my 2002 f150 xl and repaint them due to how nasty they had become from the previous owners abuse to the truck as a whole. In the past I have used plasti dip for my (now sold and replaced with a Ford) 08 Silverado's emblems and was very happy with the outcome. When I went up to my local Home Depot to purchase gray plasti dip to test out on the doors I was disappointed when they were out and only carried gray Flexi Dip. Figuring it would basically be the exact same thing, I went ahead and bought 4 cans. After thoroughly cleaning the door panels, i began the painting process. I evenly applied around 6 coats and let it sit overnight. In the morning I inspected the doors only to find bubbling, and tearing paint. To test its strength I lightly scratched the coating and it easily tore. Frustrated, I began peeling off the plastic coat and discovered that Flexi Dip doesn't not peel off evenly like Plasti Dip does. The peeling effect was more like taking off dead skin from a peeling sunburn and ended up taking 2 hours per door panel. If you plan on using a sprayable plastic product, definitely go with plasti dip. Its tougher, coats better, and peels off WAY easier and in one piece. Now Im ordering gray plasti dip from their website and might post pictures of the end result...
