Getting lifted

I finally pulled the trigger on some suspension mods and a lift. I ultimately decided to go with the setup from CT Perormance. I will be getting the dual front shocks and dual front steering stabilizer, v and b(mod) springs, and hardware to run 35's. I'm still on the lookout for a 30 mm rear sway bar. Looking at installing 20" Toyo's just not sure if it will be the AT II's or the MT's and either the Fuel throttle or boost wheels. Hoping to have it all installed by the end of the month!

I have nearly the exact same setup (single shocks and steering damper) and love it, Cary knows his stuff and was extremely helpful.

I highly recommend you start spraying all the associated hardware with PB Blaster or a similar penetrating oil now - you'll be much happier when it tear down time comes. I soaked all mine in PB every day for a week prior to the install, all but one bolt came out nicely.

The 30mm sway bars are discontinued, I found mine at a junk yard for $20. But remember when you get a used bar you may need to track down the bar bushings. Mine came with the old rubber bushings but they were junk, so I ordered ES bushings.

Yeah, I'm not sure if the dealer by the house knows the real story or not. I went by the other day just to see by chance if any dealer in the Houston area had one. I thought I had one located about 60 miles away but turned out to be bad info. They called me back and said they were on back order from Ford until July.

The toyo open county 35x12.5r20 will not fit without some cutting of the plastic. I'm running the v code springs with 3" spring hangers and still had to cut about half way up the plastic behind the tires.

Thinking about adding the b code overload spring to the front leafs for a little extra clearance.

I made a mistake, the sway bars were on backorder they were NOT discontinued. I apologize. What is obsolete according to Tousley Ford are the 3C7Z5K484EA Endlink .

"Order Number: 31380426
Those stabilizer links are obsolete... do you still want to order the rest of your stuff anyway?"

I sure hope you are wrong. The set up I bought from Carey at CT Performance is suppose to work with 35's. I guess I will find out soon enough.

I'm not wrong, wish I was though. I read the same things you did and that is why I went with the V code springs and 3" hangers. Would be happy to show you what to expect before you complete the lift. I still have the V code part number tag hanging from the new leaf springs.

Thinking about attending a truck meet Friday evening at the Gander Mountain 290 @ hwy 6. There will be several excursions there. Your more than welcome to test drive mine and see for yourself how it handles with the exact combination your doing.

I am running V/Mod's B's and a 2" hanger kit and 35's fit with no rubbing whatsoever. Not even close unless compressed a bunch. Depends on truck and wheel offset. I am running 18x9 -25 offset wheels...........

4x4x 04-25-2014 05:50 PM

Not sure what 35's your are running, but the Toyo 35x12.5r20 will not fit without rubbing on my ex, and that is with 3" hangers. The tires are mounted on 20 x 10 with -24 offset (4.5"). Maybe it has something to do with the weight difference between the gas and diesel engines.

Tracktor 04-28-2014 06:49 PM

I ran 325/65-18's and now run 295/70/18's which are bit narrower. Neither were even close to rubbing on my 6.0 diesel. Those Toyo's have a pretty beefy shoulder though? The 325's were BFG and the 295's are Nitto Terras...........

So....good news is got my ex lifted and new wheels and tires. Bad news is 4x4x you were right. The 35's didn't fit without rubbing on the back of the fender well. Had to get a mini spring pack, new track bar bracket, and pitman arm to get rid of the rub. Now I am sitting front high, which I can't stand. Guess I will give it a couple thousand miles to see if it will level out. If not maybe air bags?
