1979 F-150 4x4 DISASSEMBLED Project Truck $3250

1979 F-150, shortbed, 6” lift, 400/C6/NP205, factory air. Never wrecked, very solid, body and frame numbers match, original axles. Clear title. Restoration was started but due to relocation I don't have use for this truck. The dirty work of taking it apart, getting things cleaned up has already been done. This would be a great solid project. I've also posted this on Ebay at a higher price. Open to offers.
  • Everything down to the a/c worked when I took the truck apart.Original York (R-12) compressor was discarded, plan was to go with R-134A and smaller Sanden compressor.
  • Original 351M engine had been replaced with 400 crate engine just before I bought the truck. Engine had no mechanical issues at all, ran great, no oil usage or burning. Engine has been disassmbled to a shortblock to paint and to change out gaskets. Plan was to replace the stock cam and install matching timing chain, valve springs/rockers. Stock cam and valve springs are still in place, no new cam/timing chain/valve springs are included. Engine has a Milodon 7qt pan and correct oil pump/pickup, Edelbock Performer intake, Edelbrock carb. I was also going to replace other minor items such as water pump, engine mounts, and various other parts, most of which are included as new replacement parts.
  • C6 3 speed automatic with TCI converter. I rebuilt it a few years ago. I was planning to go thru it again even though it works fine, have a complete rebuild kit for it.
  • NP205 transfer case, works fine, I went through it when I bought the truck and I have new seals for it.
  • Frame is painted and done, new fuel tank, new rear springs, front end is installed, geometry is correct for 6” lift with correct dropped brackets and C-bushings installed. Frame is straight and true, not tweaked. All body parts fit fine, hood/doors aligned and closed fine.
  • Radiator was in good shape and is included. Radiator core support is painted and ready to install. New mount bushings are needed and not included.
  • New fuel and brake lines will be needed. Braided flex steel lines to accommodate lift height are included (used but in very good condition).
  • Front D44 (3.50) completely re-done, just needs fluid.
  • Steering box was replaced just before I bought the truck. I reinforced the frame at the steering box mounting area, a common fatigue area with these trucks running larger tires.
  • Rear axle is a "roller" Ford 9, meaning only the axles are installed to roll the truck around. The orginal Ford 9 axle was in poor condition and needed complete rebuilding. I kept the parts but I was planning to install a newermodel-year axle with disc brakes, any make as long as the overall width works and ratio is 3.50 or 3.55 to match 3.50front axle. Replacement rear axle has not been purchased and is not part of this sale.
  • There is small patch of rust on the doors, also above the passenger side bed wheelwell but other than that, solid. Underside looks great. I had bought some replacement partial body panels but the rust is not enough that I needed to use them. Panels are included.
  • Rear left post of bed has a broken weld at the top where it meets the body, very minor. The previous owner messed up the welding, cleanup and a small patch will repair it.
  • I’ve got some of the body parts stripped (blasted) and in PPG primer. I used Black Diamond extra fine media and I did not hammer down on the sheet metal to clean it up, no warpage or damage from media blasting.
  • I have a LOT of parts bought that are included with this sale, also some original parts already painted and stored.
  • I’ve also got some used spare parts, such as gauge console, ac ducts, ac control panel, etc. I can provide a complete parts listing, but as with any project, there will be additional parts and costs needed to complete the work.
  • I have receipts and records on everything since I bought the truck in 2002.
  • Interior seat and headliner are original OEM in good shape. Inner door panels were in bad shape and truck will need replacement panels.
  • The truck will need complete re-wiring. All removed original wiring is intact and tagged, but I would not recommend re-using 30+ year old wiring. New wiring harness is not included.
  • Nothing was torn up to remove, everything is bagged and tagged, including removed nuts and bolts to help identify new hardware that will be needed.
  • All body parts were removed in order to complete the frame work. The cab and bed are now temporarily bolted back on the frame for easier transport using original body bushings/hardware. Although in generally good condition, I was going to replace bushings/hardware with new parts, not included.
  • Cab has a 1” hole in the roof where previous owner had installed an antenna - this will need patching and repair.
  • All glass is all intact except for rear slider window - it looked bad and needed to be replaced. It was thrown out, new replacement unit is not included. Side glass has old window tint, I was going to replace it with new glass and new brackets that attach to glass and window regulators.
  • Any assorted paint, filler, etc that I was using or bought to use is included.
  • Frame and other black parts were stripped and painted with Rust Bullet, topcoated with RB Blackshell. Blue parts were stripped, painted with Rust Bullet, topcoated with Eastwood ceramic engine paint, dark Ford blue.
  • Wheels and tires will all need replacement, they are intended only to be able to roll this vehicle around.
There are 2 albums of F-150 pics at www.picturetrail.com, type in Yellowmudtruck to view. The additional pics should help to answer additional questions, but I'm happy to respond to questions. Everything is easy to inspect and records/inventory information is available. This would be a great project truck. It is currently in storage in Waller, TX. Buyer is responsible for all shipping and transport arrangements. Transport will require large tandem axle trailer and full-size pickup truck, lots of parts. Cash payment in person is required upon pickup.

It's a little difficult to provide a complete list of what else needs to be bought because a lot of it depends on personal preference, plus there are a lot of little things that I will miss, but here's a very general idea based on what I had wanted to do. This does not include "things to do" like body repairs, brake installation, etc etc.

• Engine - cam/timing chain/valve springs/rockers
• Hoses/vacuum lines/belts/etc
• HEI style distributor to eliminate Ford module setup
• Sanden a/c compressor to do a R-134a ac conversion, new hoses, etc.
• New fan shroud
• Re-core or replace radiator (no issues with it, wanted to start with clean)
• Rear axle out of recent model truck w/ disc brakes - match close to front Dana 3.50 ratio
• Brake/fuel lines - hard lines/connectors
• Wiring
• Interior - new seat cover, floor mat, general interior refurbish, new stereo/new door panels/new seat belts
• New rear sliding window
• New door regulators/hardware, was thinking to install new glass but existing glass not broken
• New clips for exterior trim
• Body and paint work - repair/primer/blocking/seal primer/ base/clear coat
• Finish stripping bed and cab paintwork
• Refinish or replace bumpers
• New plastic grill
• Spray bedliner
• Hardware as needed - nuts/bolts/fasteners, I don’t like to re-use old hardware
