Questions about driveshafts :)
Hi
I got Ford f-100 1974 stepside with 302efi engien AOD tans. My driveshaft is damaged cannot be repaired. Wondering if i can use for example a 1983-2010 Ford Ranger driveshaft ? Or if there is some other joint that will fit ? impossible for me to get hold of an original, because I live in Sweden. hoping for a quick answer Best regards from Sweden / Ex3em :) |
Do you have a local driveline shop? They can usually adapt or even make you a driveshaft.

I'm trying to find the one that has the same joints, so that I can adapt it to the car.
driveline shop is very expensive here. |

drove off the road and driveshaft was bent after that, and the driveshaft is shortened 3cm after all modifications
nothing else was damaged, efi from a Eco 150xl Stock wont fit |

Did you twist the u joint cap eyes off? Its not that impossible to get, so you need a d/s for a 1974 F100 shortbed, 302 w/EFI, swap in or add on? AOD trans was swapped in too right? So will a stock one fit length wise?
What are your old d/s ones measurements, I mail parts to other FTE members to Sweden and Norway. How much is the fee for transport to sweden ? got a low budget, atm |
The AOD trans was not ever offered in your truck so the driveshaft is not stock .. Replacing the tube should not be that much

all I really want to know, if there's any other car That uses the same joint that my car has ?
|
If the trans is an AOD not an AODE the front DS yoke from a 81 crown vic, grand marguis to 1991 will work. The rear will have to be modified to fit the 9" (if that's what you have) pinion yoke.
An AODE might work but, I'm not near my stash right now so I can't check. |

Especially not a '83-'10 Ranger. |

AOD introduced in 1980 LTD/Grand Marquis/Lincoln Town Car/Continental Mark VI/Thunderbird/Cougar 302, introduced in 1981 F100/150 302. 1974 F100: 240/300 I-6 & 302 = C4 ~ 360/390/460 = C6. |
right now using the original D / S it has been shortened with a few cm. U-joints size is 82x27mm. is there any other car that has the same size on their D / S, the modification of the D / S, I can fix myself with tig and pipe
|
Can't you cut off the 2 ends being careful only to cut the tube .. then carefully grind/cut the remaining tube from the ends and then reuse ? or are they damaged also ?
