Now I'm completely lost, please help!
Cold starts have been a bane all winter. When starting cold it idles a bit rough, sounds like a miss. If I try to drive it, I get very little to no power and thick black smoke from the tailpipe and I can hear it missing very good. When I stop trying and press the brake the engine sounds like its choking. When I finally get her going and I get to about 20 to 40 mpg it starts jumping and and loosing speed and power (no smoke though). After she reaches normal operating temps all issues seem to go away. Also I'm showing no codes what so ever.
What I've done (or wasted money doing) so far: -Cleaned EGR -Changed GPCM -Changed Glow Plugs + Harness (I broke it!) -Changed ICP -Checked Oil -Checked Fuel -Tested the FICM voltage (48 KOEO, 47.8 Cranking, 48 EO) Perfect! When I changed the ICP it got better but still not good. I changed my oil before winter so it should still be ok. I'm not loosing coolant either. I'm going to try the RevX in the oil to see if maybe that will help. Anyone have any ideas what's going on? |
FICM volts?

There have to be codes. What scan device are you using?

What weight of oil are you using? And what are you using to scan for codes? The scan gauge isn't a good code reader. Also are you using OEM/racor oil and fuel filters with the OEM oil filter cap and OEM air filter?

You need to find something with a little more scanning power. Do you have the Torque Shift app on a phone or tablet? The programmers are almost worthless when used as scanning devices.

It's a better scanner than the bully dog / insight type scanners, for one. It provides access to parameters monitored by your engine but not shown on your gauges, for another.
One way or the other, I think you need a better scan. Auto Enginuity is another option, but then it's a couple hundred dollars invested instead of ten for the Torque Pro app. The next step would be Ford software. |

Spell check kinda screwed me. Ect = coolant temp
Eot = oil temp Tft = trans fluid temp Iat1 = intake air temp sensor Iat2 = intake air temp sensor #2 Sent from my leash using IB AutoGroup |
