HELP!!! brand new f350 w/ 6.2 fuel milage
 

Has anybody got input on a programmer and cold air intakes affect on fuel mileage? My new truck is getting 8.5 mpg and I have babied it....no towing....no lead feet....im ready to give it back with only 400 miles on it....its got 3:73 4x4 cc long bed WTF????

Give it some time, as it learns your driving style and loosens up the mileage will increase just about all new engines are like that even diesels.

Mine was low when I first got it. My Fuel mileage leveled out at about 13.5 mpg mixed summer driving and 11 mixed winter driving. You should see the mileage slowly coming up to those numbers within 3,000 miles.

Oh and don't waste your money on programmers or cold air intakes, they do nothing but lighten your wallet.

my 5 star programmer lightened my wallet and does more than I ever expected from a tuner. I'd never go back to stock, its like night and day.

Yea I'm getting the same mileage as Kdr358 and mine just hit 7000 miles on the odometer

I should have been more clear, Cold air intakes have almost no effect besides a lighter wallet. :-X19

8.5 for the first 500 miles is common. It should start ticking up after that. I am now at 7800 and still getting better mileage every tank full. Several are above 10,15,and 20K and are still improving.

Your power will improve as well. It doesn't make since but it is as though the computer is programed to detune the engine below 500 miles and then gradually increase power at 500, 1000, and 5000 miles. Several of us have noticed power increases around these mile markers.

Not trying to be rude, but it doesn't make much sense to me to buy a gas F350 and complain about the fuel mileage.

My fuel mileage is about the same as what KDR358 posted. 13-14MPG in the summer, 11MPG in the winter.

I've been somewhat surprised by how consistent the winter mileage has been. Even if I reset the mpg after each fill up it always gets back to 11MPG by the end of the tank.

Once summer comes I'll be idling less so it will go back up again. Right now I spend anywhere from 30-60 minutes a day idling if not more.

considering that a diesel truck is 7-10 THOUSAND!!! more and diesel is 80 cents to $1.00 more per gallon,its really not smart money to spend the extra....

Mine just turned 45,000 miles and I'm getting low to mid 11's in the cold.

Side note:
It was better with the factory 275/65/18's by at least 2mpg
I put on a set of factory 275/65/20's and it dropped but it looks good :-jammin

You've ran 1 tank of gas thru it and you're complaining about gas mileage? Drive the hell out of it for another 4-5 tankfuls then check the mileage.

I did the same thing and had the dealer recalibrate the computer. I see no difference in mileage.

I can only claim ignorance...its my first new vehicle!!! But thanks for your input...I will try it and post the results!

Gas Milage
 

Check your tire pressure, run several tanks of gas through, get rid of the cold air intake and tune. You will be getting better MPG's. I've had my 6.2 for 7 months. I have 11k on it and right now I'm getting 14 average. This tank of gas 14.8 this is mixed hwy and city. Also it's a brand new truck and you've put a tuner on it? Cold Air intake? DON'T like your warranty eh?
Like everyone on this thread has said wait and it'll get better. You actually purchased a heavy duty truck and your complaining about milage? You should have bought a Toyota Tacoma...
