Family 47 build

Here is the story of the truck:

My grandpa bought this truck in the early '60's as the family truck. He was in the Air Force so he moved all over the country. It was bought in Florida and then he moved to North Carolina and then to Nebraska. This truck made all the moves. Then him and my father built the truck up an put in a 345 Caddilac engine and rear end. My dad drove it when he was in high school until "something happened" to the engine so he says! :-X06 It sat in the pasture at my grandpa's house since 1973. In the summer of 1997 it was passed down to me with the intentions of making it run again. It was taken to our shop and placed in the back which in turn got used as a storage shelf for numerous items in the shop. After sitting in the shop for the last 17 years.....Well.... now its time to begin the process. It is all there and in great shape! I wish I would have started on it many years ago as my grandpa passed away 10 years ago now. So now that I have boys of my own i guess it will be my dad, my boys, and myself on the project. The only request my grandpa had is that he always wanted to paint it "metal flake bullfrog green" so that is what it will be!

Here are the plans as of now:

MII front suspension
Ford 9" rear with 4 link suspension
Ford 302 (347) and C4 transmission
All new interior

here it is!

Welcome to FTE. That is a great story and a great looking starting point for a project. Post more pictures when you can, we like pictures around here.

Wish you were closer, I'd buy the old front end from you if it were for sale.

I am not using any of the front suspension or steering. I am probably going to sell it if anyone wants it. Everything is in real good shape.

A little update. Frame has been stripped and sand blasted. New suspension has been tack welded in and ready for final welding. I am not installing the front coilovers as of yet. Here are a few pics of the progress. Looks good! Thanks to Full Tilt Street Rods for the parts and the help...

Hey Will, I sent you a pm. I just now noticed you were trying to reach me. I never look at the corner of the screen for pm notification. Thanks and that's a nice job you are doing on this truck. Gary

Full Tilt Street Rods is located in my hometown of Grand Junction, CO. They do make a really nice product all in house! I'm glad you're lowering it!!! :)
