I'm at it again...78 Super Cab and 78 Crew Cab

Well, I'm at it again, I picked up a 78 F-150 Super Cab for a few parts and I'm parting the rest out...and I picked up a 78 F-250 Crew Cab 2wd with 460 and all the trim i've been trying to find!!! Here comes a BUNCH of pics...LOL...Probably not in any particular order, but ya never know!!

Motor Out (400) and Got it sold, sold the rear 9 inch out of it and mounted a Dana 70 under it to be able to move it around

Now for the Crew Cab Pics!!! I got it part way torn apart, and with the weather being bad, couldn't bring it home in that state, so once we got a bit of a break with some clear days, I had the guy trailer to my work, so I could put it back together and hopefully get it running and then drive it home.

This is the way I got it, he had the doors off too, but put them back on with one bolt in each hinge to transport, so I had to put the other ones back in.

BONUS!!! Original Window sticker (Or Part of it) Found up behind dash along with the Build sheet/card???

Got it all together except for front bumper, and A/C and heater stuff, got the outer part of A/C Heater box installed but nothing inside hooked up to speak of, drove to car wash, washed it off, found out drivers side of wipers isn't working (Sounds like Arm is unhooked) and of course no heat, and when i drove home, it was butt ass cold, and i was fighting windshield frosting up...so needless to say...it was definitely and interesting drive...but it runs good and drives good....feels GREAT to drive a crew finally since my other 2 78 Crews both are lacking drive train!!! LOL

Is there a spot where that build card would be typically placed during the build? i havent gone indepth under the dash to look at any of mine.......Fleet ownership is nice, as long as you have parking....

I'm really diggin' the Crew. Keep your progress posted!

LOL. I looked at three more Dentsides today. A '76 F-100 4x4, a '79 F-150 Supercab, and a '75 Crew. I just know that if another one shows up on the place my wife will probably see that an 'accident' befalls me. I've never owned a 4x4. Sure is tempting....

Gotta ask if you don't mind How much did they cost you

crazyredneckanyhow 01-25-2014 10:20 PM

You need to shortend that sc frame 5" and put the crew body on it.

This one was taped up on the inside of the dash and would have been next to the glove box insert on the left side of it (I actually saw it through that A/C cut out hole and snagged it) I've found Build sheets tucked in the springs of the seats underneath as well on some trucks

I paid 500 for the Super Cab, and made my money back selling the Rear Axle, the 400 Engine, The Grille Shell, the bumper and the headlight surrounds.
The Crew, I paid 1100 (That includes 100 bucks I paid for him to deliver it so I didn't have top go after it....and trust me...sometimes it's WAY worth it to have em brought to me!!!)

That's always a possibility or I also have another Crew in the Garage that i may trade cabs with, and then make the 2wd 4x4 using the 2wd frame anyway, and keep the SC Longbed for an SC

I am only saying that it looks like you are par for your course as far as getting even MORE trucks. Nice score on the 2wd that is pretty much together.

And IMO 2 rail road ties cut 4' wd and stacked, set under the rear part of the frame, say mid cab ro aft of the spring hangers makes for a less scary looking deal than just those jack stands and the leaf springs.

Just be safe.....like at least put a back up stand under the cross member.

And I see our favorite member has one again copy and pasted his statement right after every thread I have replied to. Sorry folks.....

fordtrucknut 01-27-2014 09:21 AM

He got reported and deleted!! I don't want crap talking on my thread...LOL
