Bow's 1973 F250 build

Hey guys! Finally created an account -- been a lurker for many years! I first wonna start by saying thanks to everyone who contributes to this board. I've used it MANY times over the years for info, help and general ideas.

I'd like to share my recent build -- yah, I know..... Another build thread! :)

Anyways, here's my rig! Started as a 1976 F250... Eventually turned into a 1973 F250. Still using the F250 cab and one fender, but the rest is from a donor 1973 F250.

I bought it in 2001. And the engine went out 6 months later. It sat on the side of my house for almost 10 years. In 2010 I started working on it. I got it running again but I was unhappy with it. So I decided to do a frame up on it. Boy did I under estimate how long that would take! :-X04

Started the frame up at the beginning of 2012, finally getting close -- so I thought I'd share with you guys!!!

Still got plenty of work. No brake lines, fuel lines or electrical... But body is almost done!

1973 F-250
390ci (0.30 over with TRW/Speed-Pro pistons/Schneider cam/ roller rockers)
Freshly rebuilt c6
2wd
~4inch lift with bend beams
35" BFG all terrain on 16.5 rims
D60 rear with 4.11s and locker

How I bought it in 2001:

Welcome aboard... finally!

You've done an awesome job.. that's is the nakedest frame I've ever seen anybody build up. :-X22

Say, you're titled as a 73, right? I certainly hope so. And your I-beams, are those Autofab beams with their extended radius arms?

What happened to the Lincoln?

bruggeri 12-31-2013 11:14 PM

Yah, titled as a 1973! One of the main reasons I moved to a 73 -- being in Cali that is! :)

Yah, I spent countless night hours on the frame... Then eventually got it blasted.. Then painted it with POR-15 -- we'll see how it does!

I DID have the i-beams bent from John at Autofab! I made the extended radius arms myself.

Haha... The Lincoln... That's my roommates -- he took it to a restoration place in Santee CA, its currently being worked on! Stop looking at my garage! :-X04

Looks like your restoring a truck that was similar to mine. Originally was built in San Jose, 76 f-250, same color scheme. I got it from Montana.

Very nice. Dig the green almost black paint. Wish I could paint mine up purdy. It'd just get tore up in the woods though.

VERY nice truck, you can tell you put lots of hard work in that.

That is a SWEET color! Awesome truck too. Need pics of your radius arms.

Sweet is an understatement:-X03
I do have a question, though. Did you go from flared sides back to stock? Is that what I am seeing?

:-X04 I was going to ask is that a 31 peeking over the hood of your truck there in the garage. Great color on the truck. If I paint mine I'll probably go the blue that looks black again extremely good looking truck:-X22

Yah.. The original bed was flared. However, the previous owner flared it by cutting the inners and wacking it with a hammer! :D

It was in pretty bad shape. That's why I got a donor bed. So now its back to stock.

Been a few months, but making more progress! Started doing the wiring (wiring kit from hotrodwires) and put in a radiator (Griffith). Been heat shrinking all the wires and using weather packs connectors. Been taking a while, but turning out good! :)

Weather packs:

MSD mounted and wired:

Still got a lot of small stuff! Slowly but surely making progress!
