Compressor Wheel

Hey guys, Im thinking of upgrading my compressor wheel to a Riffraff Diesel 38R Billet Compressor Wheel which offers no information on it or Riffraff Diesel Billet Compressor Wheel 94-03. which is 2nd Generation performance billet compressor.

Id like to know if anyone has gotten either of these and if they liked them.

The truck is all stock as far as i know.

Thanks

Why are you thinking of upgrading?

just some added boost, Seems weak. i did a boost leak test and i could feel air on the passenger side near the back of the turbo so i am asuming its my up pipe. and i figure while i have it removed i could drop a new wheel while im in stalling a new bellowed up pipe.

This is the 2nd gen compressor wheel:

Riffraff Diesel: Riffraff Diesel Billet Compressor Wheel 94-03

The 38R compressor wheel is for the 38R turbo, a different turbo.

If your truck is stock you want the 94-03 wheel. The 38R is a common upgrade turbo and it takes a different wheel. Do you have a boost gauge? Any other leaks? Bellowed up pipes are pretty nifty but other leaks will still doom your boost. Also while in there consider repair or replace the passenger side fuel line (they wear and leak at the support) It is discussed in the Failure Prevention Thread. And rebuild/replace/delete the ebpv in the pedestal if it is leaking oil.

Edit: I must be losing boost, Trey beat me. :)

As previously mentioned, lack of boost is MOST LIKELY going to be caused by leaking CAC boots or leaking up-pipes. Also check your waste gate tension. It could be partially your turbo, no doubt, but as the others said it won't overcome leaks that much.

when i pressure tested the system, i sprayed all the boots down with soapy water. i will check the wastegate next. ty

i have no gauges as of yet, i was looking at the Edge CTS

Put some plenum inserts in your plenums also. New boots wouldn't hurt either. Clay sells them all. That will make sure your system is tight. And buy the wheel posted above, not the 38R one unless you have that after market turbo.

I'm a huge RiffRaff fan but I ended up with the Dieselsite WW2, I started with the WW1 which was a nice upgrade but the WW2 was an even better boost. The stock turbo spools quite a bit faster and boost pressures are elevated with the help of the tuner. RiffRaff has always been top notch so I would bet their wheels are first class as well. It is an awesome upgrade over the stock wheel and cheaper than upgrading to bigger turbo for now too. Also easy to do when you are replacing your uppipes. Good luck.

I put in the RiffRaff wheel listed above. It is giving more boost than the WW1 was and is quieter. Less expensive than the WW2 also.

I have run both the WW2 and the Riffraff wheel. With your setup, get the Riffraff wheel
