Scratch it... New plan
I have been talked out of a diesel (for this swap anyway.)
Now I'm going to build up a gasser for my 96 bronco. And there is 2 different routes I can go (both ways will have a manual trans.) 1: my 351w to a 408w (already have it priced out) possibly super charge? 2: a good friend of mine has 2 351M/400s out of a 79 bronco that are mine for the taking. So I can pick them up for free (go carb instead of MAF) and build that up? What I'm looking for: Under $3500-$4000 for the engine build (not including forced induction) Around 350-400rwhp with good torque Reliable! It's gunna be 50/50 toy/daily driver so I don't wanna go overboard with the build |
Well a good 12 valve Cummins would be the ticket but then you're gonna need a good trans and there goes your budget.

Are you looking to stay with a ford power train? That 12v would be a badass swap
|
Ya the whole reason behind going with the 7.3 was to stay with a ford power train. I know the 4/6bt cummins are popular swaps because they are around 150lbs heavier then my 351 but have much more torque.
Maybe on the next one I'll do a diesel swap but for now I'm just going to go with a gasser. I don't drive the truck hardly so time really isn't much of an issue for now. The only down side is that with winter moving in and colder temperatures it gets harder to work on the truck since we don't have any kind of garage/pole barn and my buddies are busy fixing there Chevy's for the spring. |
