Scangauge Readings?

I have a Scangauge II on my 02' F350 7.3 and it will read all the gauges that my 05' Excurssion V10 would display except for engine coolant temp. Is this due to the ODBII difference with these year diesels I've heard about.

And can anyone explain that a little more to me. I've heard that if I take this truck to Autozone for a free check engine light reading they might not be able to read them??

02+ trucks are OBDII compliant. 99-01 will still read all of the gauges, thats different. If you took your truck to Autozone they would be able to pull codes since its OBDII compliant. 99-01 they can pull some codes.

I have a cheap $50 scanner I use. It works great.

So I guess I need to figure out why my scangauge won't read my engine temp, hmmm?

Here's a link to an older thread - it might answer a few of your questions... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-readings.html

Mine works great for water temp her is the Xcode for water temp:

Coolant Temp:
TXD: C410F1221139
RXF: 046205110639
RXD Engine: 3008
MTH: 00010002007F
NAM: ect

The value displayed by this XGauge is only valid after the coolant temperature gets above 127* F. Before the engine is warmed up the displayed value will go up to 255 this about double actual then start over at 127. This is becasue this PID is scaled for two different ranges. It works good on my 2000 7.3 and seems to be accurate. This has been a long sought after XGauge for the 7.3 crowd for quite some time.

If your 7.3 liter truck is an automatic transmission model, then it won't read engine coolant temp because the PCM does not monitor that sensor. Some scanners will display a temp value but it's a calculated value and not actual data from the sensor itself.

Manual transmission models should work fine though....
