Transfer case shift knob removal
Ive been trying to figure out how to remove this knob today, and I know i've read a few posts of people trying and they say the knob cant be removed but I just dont believe it! I cut off some of the rubber on the knob with a knife and its all white plastic underneith.. I just dont believe that its actually impossable to remove the knob lol has anyone had any luck?

I THINK the rod is finely splined and the knob is pressed on. Are you wanting to install a custom knob/handle? If so you may need to remove the lever from the vehicle and carefully grind the end down to the appropriate diameter for threading to your desired size. If removal of the knob remains a problem, heat it and the lever with a dryer or heat gun (be careful with a heat gun) and it should soften and slide off fairly easily.

Yeah ill be replacing it with a Hurst T-Handle.
I just ordered one so once I get it ill work on getting the stock knob off, ill come back here and let you know how it went lol |
Just make an adaptor to slip over the splines and a threaded end to match the shift knob. I did that on my old 1989 F150.:-drink
