would anyone be willing to dyno my engine
I was just wondering if there might be a desk top dyno user that would be willing to run an engine I am looking at building. It's a 2.3L so I don't know, might think it's just a waste of time. I can get a precise list of specs and post if anyone would be willing to help. Thanks in advance.

I can run it if you post up some critical specs... mostly valve sizes and port airflow if possible, cam specs are available online usually.

Thanks conanski, I don't have exact numbers on the heads but found the flow numbers for late dual plug head and a reputable head porter and just averaged the numbers. I know the more exact, the more accurate the results but I think this will be pretty close. Any way, here are the numbers.

Are those flow numbers for the stock or ported head? I suspect that is after since they look darn good, can you post up numbers for the exhaust side too and the stock numbers if available.

OK here are the numbers.
With a 10:1 2.3L with heads that flow 205/151 CFM and the Crane RFOR-214/420-12 cam DD says the motor will make 172hp@6000rpm and 183tq@4000rpm. And even with a stock late model 8 plug head and 9:1 compression the motor will still make 156hp@5500rpm and 175tq@3500rpm Now I just need to find the stock cam specs so I can establish a baseline to see how optimistic these estimates are. |

Ok I found some specs for a stock cam, with the stock exhaust on it the software says it'll make 125hp and 155tq, compare that to what Ford advertised for this motor (112hp/135tq) and you have a 10% fudge factor.

Hey conanski, did you figure the stroker kit? I was going to run the 2.5 crank and pistons too but looks like the program ran the stock bottom end. How much of a difference do you think that would make? It was my fault, I mentioned the 2.3 and just listed the stroke instead of actually spelling out the stroker. Sorry about that.

You didn't specifically mention a stroker kit so I didn't add it, how much does that add to the stroke?

The 2.5L is 3.401 vs the 2.3L 3.126 so .275 difference

As expected that makes a significant difference in torque output, peak is now 196 with 190+ available across the board, and 180hp at 5500 rpm.

I guess you was right when you said it was possible to make 150 hp naturally aspirated with a 2.3L. That is pretty awesome of course we have to deduct the 10% fudge factor so 170lbs of torque and 160 hp, still pretty good considering it's a 2.3! Wondering if I would need a tune to run this set up? I know I would probably need bigger injectors. Wonder if going with a long rod setup would benefit the torque or is that just for high rpm drag racers and stock car?
