Soonest I can retake is January. I think I can make this favorable, though. If I achieved master status at the end of this month, what would I really get out of it? A fancy title. However, if I take my other two tests in November and then put off the auto tranny test until February or so, when I finally get my master tech credentials in May, I can use it as an excuse to ask for another raise.

And that, my friends, is how you turn a negative into a positive and use apparent failure to your advantage. :)
