272 Valve Adjustment Help

Hey guys, I'm going to adjust the tappits on my 1955 272 heads. It's a car engine if that matters. I have seen several suggestions for adjustments. If doing the adjustments cold, what should the intake and the exhaust valve adjustment be? Are they the same? Some sources say yes, while some say no. :-huh It would make sense to have the gap on the exhaust be wider because of thermal expansion. Any suggestions?? Jag

On a stock motor, they should be adjusted the same. I think it is .019" cold and .018" hot. With stock rocker arms, an easy way to do it is to turn the screw until there is no clearance and then loosen it 1/4 turn. That will be about .019"

I always set mine at .019 hot, don't know what the cold setting is..
