1959 F600 4x4 marmon herrington repower project
 

Howdy I just bought a 1959 Marmon Herrington F600. Used to be a drilling rig up until it got parked 10+ years ago. No bed as of now and no engine. Has a non original rear axle in it not sure what it is (Does have a dropout center section though). 22.5 one piece wheels. Big Front winch bumper with Brayden PTO winch. Found an old registration from Wyoming that had the weight on it and it said 19,786 pounds. PO told me it was around 26,000 fully loaded with tools and drills.
I have a few questions about it.
1. What front axle is in this thing, and what is it rated for?

2. Where can I find parts to rebuild the outters of the front end( king pins, bearings, wiper seals, and such)? Lockout hubs would be great too.

3. Where can I find front brakes for it? I can get the rear shoes from a local parts store as long as they aren't 4.5" wide shoes.

4. Would anybody make ring and pinion sets for it so I can re gear it to around 4.10s or 4.56s.

5. Who would have transfer case parts if I may need them?

My plan for this truck will be to haul my fifth wheel and jeep and later down the road getting firewood or whatever heavy hauling I may have to do.

Engine will be a 6BTA Cummins

RTOO9513 main transmission and possibly a 3 spd brownie behind that depending on wether or not I can find taller gears for it.

Flatbed with gooseneck hitch somewhere around 13' x 8'

Very cool truck, hope you can get the axle ratio' s your looking for.
Is the 13 speed a double overdrive? What would the final ratio be in overdrive?
With the right gearing you'll love the Cummins. I put one in a 56 f600.

Rustyrelic thank you Ive seen your swap and you did a very nice job. Did you have to make any firewall modifications? Just measuring my Dodge from the firewall to the radiator was around 39" if I remember right the Ford was 34" so ill have to make some sort of modification there not sure whether I should go with a removable dog house or just recess the firewall there. The trans is Double over with a final ratio of .62 along with the brownie behind that might be good for 55-60 with the 6.80s that are in it now. As of now still saving up for the engine and trans.

If it's an old Eaton 2 speed rear axle the lowest numerical gears for it are 5.83. I searched everywhere for a lower numerical gear set and nobody ever made one. I wound up buying a Dana 80 rear axle with the 6 on 8.75" bolt pattern because you can get gears as low as about 3.55 for it.

The 56 has a 3.5in factory recess in the firewall .. that gives me 37.5in to the radiator. The recess is off center to the passenger side so I had to do a little hammer work to clear the left rear of the Cummins head.

awhtx- Its a single speed rear end. I thought about that but then im still stuck with the front axle having the low gears.
Rustyrelic- That looks like it fit very nicely in there my 59 doesn't have anywhere near as big of a recess in the firewall. It is about 1 ft long by 6-8" tall and 1 1/4 deep.
