1990 F-250 trans swap flexplate issues
I have a 1990 Ford F-250 with a 7.3D and C6 automatic transmission.
I'm currently doing a transmission swap to a 4R100, with a 6-bolt pattern torque converter. The existing flexplate has a 4-bolt pattern and is externally balanced. Which flexplate can I use, and where can I get it? Thanks for any help! :) |
welcome to FTE.
you will never get the 4R100 to work properly. you need a computer to make the trans work, and the 7.3 in the 90 is a non computer engine. |
You need a four stud converter from an E4OD. :-X22

You could possibly redrill a 4 bolt one. I just pulled the engine out of a 7.3 IDI with an E4od and have the flywheel. PM me if you need it.

Thanks, but the flexplate teeth are also damaged, so I will need a new flexplate anyways. The new converter has a better lockup discs, and a different stall speed. I need the flexplates.
If you want to use a six stud converter, you might get away with drilling the late stamped style flexplate. |
