We just drove to Florida and are returning to Springfield Louiaiana near Hammond tomorrow. I am looking for someone who knows these diesels to check it out for me when I return
Any help out there?

Welcome to the Louisiana chapter. I don't know much about the 7.3's. We have a lot of members around your area. Maybe some one can help.

Have you posted in the diesel forums? Lots of good guys there.

Check the cam position censer. They go out on the 7.3s often

Going to replace the cam sensor today
Thanks

It's not the cam sensor. The cam sensor causes them to die like you shut off the key.
Do you have a CEL ?
When's the last time you changed the fuel filer ?
Could be bad/lose wire harness to the injectors (very common)

I changed the cps and it helped. Now I'm getting spuratic bursts of power and its ideling like a big block with a full race cam. Someone mentioned that it could be the oil pump. Could the oil pump cause this?

You need to check the wiring harness to the injectors. The ones under the valve covers. It's very common form them to come lose

Well I attempted to check but being a beginner to diesels I don't know what I'm looking for

Maybe this will help

Good info. My 96 F250 never gave any trouble that I didn't cause It had new performance injectors when I bought it. It had a 4 inch exhaust & I put a 140 hp tune in it. It trashed the tranny 6 days later. I but a build one in it I loved that truck. Then someone ran a stop sign & totaled it for me. I had a guy working for me that had a 360 Dodge1/2 ton truck. My F250 could spank him bad pulling a 5,000 lb trailer. He beat me at the start then I passed him like he was setting still about 75 feet later. I still miss that old red & black ride.
